  • A late 19th century Mahogany Bracket clock with a brass handle to the bell top pediment, foliate brass spandrels flanking the glazed full length ogee shaped door, with reeded canted corners and pierced wooden sound frets to the sides, on a brass fronted moulded plinth raised on corresponding bracket feet, with a deeply engraved gilt brass dial and five-inch silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, minute track and five minute Arabic’s, matted dial center with pierced trefoil steel hands, subsidiary ring for strike/silent operation, eight day chain driven twin fusee movement striking the hours and half hours on a coiled gong, rack strike with a recoil anchor escapement, pendulum holdfast to the backplate, chapter ring inscribed “ A & H Rowley, London”. With key. Arthur and Henry Rowley were a firm of London clock retailers, at 67 Lion Street, Clerkenwell (1860-9) and afterwards at 180 Grey’s Inn Road, finally at 40 Theobalds Road , London (1881-1906).
