  • Single Fusee 8-day wall clock in a Mahogany case with a 17” Hexagonal wooden dial surround retailed by the 19th century Schwerer family of York clockmakers, dial inscribed “Schwerer, 38 Stonegate, York” drop dial case profusely inlaid with brass decoration and curved pendulum viewing lenticle, 12” painted dial with Roman numerals, minute track and finely pierced moon hands. The Schwerer Family of German clockmakers consisted of three brothers, Philip, Peter, and Mathew who came to York in 1834 and traded from both Stonegate and Petergate at various dates during the early to mid-19th century.
