Lucia Maria Young was the eldest daughter of Admiral Sir George Young. Lucia would have been around twenty years old at the time this miniature was painted. 

During his early career, Henry Bone worked as a porcelain and jewellery painter, and exhibited regularly the Royal Academy as an elected Royal Academician. 
He was appointed as Royal Enamelist to King George III, George IV and William IV. 
Due to the quality of his work Bone is said to have been known as the
