George Engleheart studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1769 under Sir Joshua Reynolds and George Barret, and regularly exhibited work at the Royal Academy between the years 1773 and 1822. He was appointed as Miniature Painter to King George III and is known to have painted at least twenty five portraits of the King, as well as a number of others depicting various members of the Royal family. Engleheart is known for his decorative style and flattering depictions, an approach which saw him gain an excellent reputation with sitters. Today he is widely regarded as one of the most eminent portrait miniaturists of the late Georgian period.

Good overall condition, some very light dust under glass. Frame with some light surface scratches.
