Born in Dresden in 1683, Christian Friedrich Zincke travelled to London in 1706 to work at the studio of miniature painter and enamellist Charles Boit; later inheriting Boit's fashionable clientele. 
During his time in London Zincke is said to have dominated the market, training a number of well known English miniature painters including William Prewett, and also gaining Royal patronage aided by the endorsement of notable portrait artist Sir Godfrey Kneller.
Zincke worked extensively for the Royal Family, including George II and Frederick Prince of Wales, and is arguably the most successful enamel painter of the period in which he worked.

Condition Report:

Good overall condition. Very small loss to white enamel border. Frame with light wear commensurate with age, predominantly in the form of some surface scratches.
