English School (Late 19th century): The Stations of the Cross, complete set of fourteen oils on metal with embossed gilt backgrounds, 127cm x 92cm (50” x 36”), in bespoke carved and gilded oak frames with crucifix finials, with painted titles along the bottom edge, overall 152.5cm x 115cm (excluding finials), H184cm (including finials) (14) Provenance: commissioned for All Saints Church, Falsgrave, Scarborough c.1890; the church was demolished in 1975 and some of the contents were sold to St Saviour’s Church, Scarborough, where the Stations were hung until 2023 when St Saviour’s underwent a major renovation.
