Design Icons and Statement Pieces
Modern interiors often sing with sculptural accent pieces and this sale doesn’t disappoint. We’re pleased to feature a pair of 1960s Danish safari chairs attributed to Kaare Klint, combining an ash frame with canvas sling seats and leather strap arms. They’re a clever fusion of comfort and simplicity, emblematic of Scandinavian modernism.
From the same design lineage, a Lucian Ercolani ‘Giraffe’ bookcase for Ercol brings function and beauty to open-plan spaces. With slender beech supports and an integrated storage cupboard, it’s both room divider and feature furniture.
A little more playful, but no less collectable, is Giancarlo Piretti’s 1984 ‘Dilemma’ coat rack and ladder, a clever piece of postmodern design from Italy, joined by a set of six Castelli stacking chairs, also by Piretti. With moulded plywood seats and lightweight aluminium frames, they offer smart, stackable solutions for contemporary workspaces or studios.
And from the United States, the ever-popular 'Hang It All' wall-mounted coat rack by Charles and Ray Eames (for Vitra) brings a pop of mid-century charm, featuring lacquered wooden ball hooks in a rainbow of colours – one of the most recognisable design objects of the 20th century.
