This week’s auctions bring together an unusual mix of contemporary cultural history, modern design, luxury accessories and collectible coins. From a remarkable body of work created by one of Britain’s most controversial prisoners to Danish modern furniture and limited edition writing instruments, the sales offer opportunities for collectors across a wide range of interests. Here are some of the highlights closing next week.

Charles Bronson: Expression in Confinement

Ends Wednesday 11 March.

One of the most unique sales we have presented centres on a single lot: a vast body of work by Charles Bronson, also known as Charles Arthur Salvador. The auction comprises five hundred mixed media works created between 2000 and 2025, with an estimate of £100,000–200,000. Produced during the artist’s long incarceration, the pieces are primarily executed in ink, coloured pencil and mixed media on paper.

Working with limited materials, Bronson has produced drawings across multiple formats, from A5 through to A2, many signed and dated. A number are created on the reverse of official prison paperwork and repurposed documents, reflecting the constraints of working within the prison system.

Offered as a single lot, this collection represents the largest body of Bronson’s work ever to appear on the market, providing a rare insight into the artistic output of one of Britain’s most talked about outsider artists.

Coins, Banknotes & Stamps

Ends Thursday 12 March.

This week’s Coins, Banknotes & Stamps sale offers a mix of modern commemoratives, classic gold coinage and collectible philatelic issues. Lot 2638 features the Queen Elizabeth II Gibraltar 2020 ‘Twelve Labours of Hercules’ set of twelve £2 coins, estimated at £300–500. Presented in a fitted case with certificates, the complete set celebrates the legendary feats of Hercules through detailed modern coin design, appealing to both mythological and numismatic collectors. From the Victorian era comes Lot 2503, a Queen Victoria 1864 gold ‘shield back’ full sovereign, estimated at £500–800. Struck during the height of Britain’s imperial period, the shield reverse design remains a favourite among collectors of historic gold coinage.

Rounding out the highlights is Lot 2678, a Great Britain King George V 1929 Postal Union Congress £1 stamp, estimated at £100–200. Issued to commemorate the international postal congress held in London, the stamp remains a notable and collectible piece of twentieth century British philatelic history.

Modern Living & Design

Ends Friday 13 March.

Mid century design and contemporary interiors pieces take centre stage in this curated sale of modern furniture and decorative objects. Lot 2000, a Danish teak Roundette dining set by Frem Røjle, carries an estimate of £1,000–1,500. The clever circular table extends to seat additional guests while the four chairs are designed to nest neatly beneath the table when not in use, a hallmark of Scandinavian design practicality.

Also featured is Lot 2020, the ‘Favn’ sofa by Jaime Hayon for Fritz Hansen, estimated at £1,000–2,000. With its softly curved form and sculptural silhouette, the design blends contemporary comfort with the refined aesthetic associated with the Danish manufacturer. Completing the selection is Lot 2022, a stoneware baluster vase with red drip glaze, estimated at £80–120, offering a smaller decorative accent with striking colour and texture.

Luxury Accessories

Ends Friday 13 March.

This sale brings together iconic names in luxury craftsmanship. Lot 3500, a Louis Vuitton monogram Boîte Flacons vanity coffret, is estimated at £800–1,200. Dating to the late 1990s or early 2000s, the travel case retains its fitted interior with leather loops and lift out tray, along with keys and serial numbered fittings. Collectors of writing instruments will note Lot 3503, a Montblanc Meisterstück Oscar Wilde limited edition fountain pen, estimated at £500–800. Presented in its original book style case, the pen features the author’s facsimile signature and a gold nib engraved with the Montblanc 4810 emblem.

Jewellery features in the sale with one highlight being Lot 3504, Cartier Trinity hoop earrings, estimated at £700–1,000. The intertwined rings of rose, white and yellow gold form one of Cartier’s most recognisable designs.

With sales closing throughout the week, now is the perfect time to browse the catalogues, register to bid and explore the full range of lots on offer. For condition reports or further information, our specialist teams are always happy to assist.
