Fine silverware and unusual novelty pieces headline this week’s silver sale. Lot 8568, estimated at
£1,000–2,000, is an elegant silver tea service comprising a
three-piece tea set by Synyer & Beddoes, Birmingham 1929, together with a matching hot water jug from Sheffield 1954. Designed in a classic panelled circular form, the service offers timeless style and impressive craftsmanship. Another highlight is Lot 8558, a richly embossed Victorian
silver two-handled cup estimated at
£300–500. Decorated with cattle, horses, and sheep, the cup was presented by the Nottingham Mills Company to John Barugh, Thwing, and was made in London in 1865 by Henry Holland.
Completing the selection is Lot 8566, a delightful limited edition Elizabeth II novelty silver and
silver gilt surprise egg by Anthony Gordon Elson, estimated at
£200–300. Opening with a bayonet fitting, the egg reveals two rotating musical bunnies hidden inside, combining fine silversmithing with whimsical design.
