This week at Duggleby’s brings together two very different sales, each with strong collector appeal. The Coins, Banknotes & Stamps Sale offers historic coins, precious metal issues, modern Royal Mint collectables and philatelic material, while the Luxury & Designer Accessories Sale presents an exceptional single-owner collection of handbags, outerwear, footwear, scarves and accessories from leading fashion houses.

From centuries of monetary history to statement pieces from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, there is plenty to explore across both catalogues.

Coins, Banknotes & Stamps

The Coins, Banknotes & Stamps Sale spans centuries of history, design and collectability, with highlights ranging from Stuart silver to modern gold and silver Royal Mint issues.

Lot 2504, a Charles II 1672 silver crown coin, is a strong historic highlight. The crown was one of the great silver denominations of the period, and examples from the reign of Charles II carry the appeal of Restoration history, portraiture and substantial silver content. Presented in a Hattons of London case, it offers an attractive opportunity for collectors of early milled British coinage. Estimate: £200 to £400.

Lot 2544, a George IV 1821 gold full sovereign, brings precious metal value together with royal and numismatic interest. The 1821 sovereign belongs to the early years of George IV’s reign and remains a desirable issue for collectors of British gold coinage, offering both historic appeal and the enduring popularity of the full sovereign format. Estimate: £600 to £900.

Lot 2571, a Queen Elizabeth II 2019 ‘Yale of Beaufort’ one ounce fine gold £100 coin, is one of the highest value lots in the sale. Encapsulated by PCGS, it forms part of the Royal Mint’s Queen’s Beasts series, a popular modern collection inspired by the heraldic beasts that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. With one ounce of fine gold and third-party encapsulation, it is a strong modern precious metal issue. Estimate: £2,500 to £3,500.
The sale also includes appealing cased sets, such as Lot 2518, a King Edward VII 1905 Maundy silver four coin set in its original tooled red leather case. Maundy money has a long ceremonial history, traditionally distributed by the monarch as part of the Royal Maundy service. Complete cased sets such as this are always attractive to collectors of British silver coinage. Estimate: £80 to £120.

Modern Royal Mint collecting is represented by Lot 2596, The Royal Tudor Beasts set of ten one ounce fine silver £2 coins. Comprising issues from 2022 to 2026 and offered cased with certificates, the set celebrates heraldic beasts connected with the Tudor dynasty. Complete modern silver series continue to attract collectors looking for design-led issues with precious metal content. Estimate: £400 to £600.

Lot 2609, The Royal Mint United Kingdom 2009 executive proof twelve coin set, includes the sought-after Kew Gardens 50p. The Kew Gardens fifty pence has become one of the most recognisable modern British circulating coin designs among collectors, and its inclusion gives this cased proof set added interest. Estimate: £150 to £250.

Coins, Banknotes & Stamps ends Thursday 16 July from 11am.

Luxury & Designer Accessories

The Luxury & Designer Accessories Sale presents a private single-owner collection, carefully assembled and immaculately presented. With many pieces unused and offered with original packaging, the catalogue brings together investment handbags, statement outerwear, footwear, scarves and accessories from some of the most recognisable names in fashion.

Lot 13, a Chanel ‘19’ Medium Flap Bag, is one of the standout handbag lots in the sale. Introduced in 2019 as one of the final designs associated with Karl Lagerfeld, the model has quickly become a modern Chanel classic. This example is crafted in cream quilted lambskin leather, with a mixed gold, silver and ruthenium-tone chain strap and signature CC monogram turn-lock fastening. Unused with original dust bag and box, it offers the combination of condition, presentation and collectability that makes Chanel handbags so sought after. Estimate: £3,500 to £5,000.

Lot 10, a Dolce & Gabbana ‘Sicily Clock’ Medium Bag, brings theatre and craftsmanship to the handbag section. From the Fairytale collection, the structured black textured leather body is decorated with an elaborate jewelled clock-face motif and floral embellishments. A limited production piece, unused with original box and dust bag, it is exactly the kind of bold, decorative design that appeals to collectors of statement fashion. Estimate: £900 to £1,500.

Lot 16, a Louis Vuitton ‘Twist’ MM Bag in Coquelicot red Epi leather, is another strong highlight. The Twist model was introduced for the Cruise 2015 collection under Nicolas Ghesquière and has become a recognisable modern Louis Vuitton design. With silver-tone LV twist-lock fastening, chain handle and detachable leather strap, this unused example is offered with its original box and dust bag. Estimate: £1,000 to £1,500.
The outerwear selection is equally strong. Lot 7, a Fendi Roma wool cape coat in Cayenne orange peach, has real statement appeal. With concealed front fastening, short flared cape sleeves and dyed arctic fox fur patch pockets, it combines bold colour, sculptural shape and luxury materials. Unused with original tags, it is a striking example from the collection. Estimate: £800 to £1,200.

Lot 33, a Prada wool single-breasted camel coat with bright pink outer, offers a more refined but equally distinctive approach to luxury outerwear. With detachable mink fur collar, three-quarter length sleeves, cloth-covered and gold-tone hardware buttons and side slip pockets, it balances classic tailoring with a confident flash of colour. Estimate: £1,000 to £1,500.

Footwear collectors will note Lot 17, a pair of Gucci Dionysus buckled knee-high leather boots. In black leather with block heels, rhinestone star, moon and heart appliqué motifs, and the signature tiger head buckle fastening, they carry the playful maximalism associated with Gucci’s modern era. Unused with original box and dust bags, they are a strong statement piece for collectors and fashion buyers alike. Estimate: £500 to £800.

Luxury & Designer Accessories ends Friday 17 July from 11am.
