Provenance: Gordon Wright Anderson was married to the seller's grandmother, Cicely Charlotte Dodgson.  3rd June 1916, the date on the salver,  was their wedding day. 
Anderson was a lieutenant in the Army Service Corps and was the son of William Charles Anderson.  Anderson survived the First World War, only to die of Spanish Flu on 20th November 1918.  My grandmother had been nursing him and had fallen asleep at his bedside. She berated herself for not hearing the doctor's knock at the door, and Anderson died that same day.  He was buried at St Mary the Virgin Churchyard, Downe, Bromley, Kent.  He is commemorated on the Keston Men (WMR 12729) Memorial in Keston, Greater London.
Cicely later married Anderson's best friend, Walter Stanley Norris.  Norris was a member of the HAC, hence the presentation of the silver salver.  Walter Stanley Norris was the seller's grandfather.
