  • A mid-Victorian four dial mercury wheel barometer in a mahogany veneered case, Swan-neck pediment and moulded square base, recessed hygrometer with a circular silvered dial engraved “dry” “damp” with a brass bezel and flat glass, removable bow-fronted thermometer box with convex glass, mercury thermometer tube, recording from nought to one hundred and ten degrees fahrenheit on an engraved silver scale, brass thermometer bolt, twelve-inch silvered register engraved with weather predictions in Roman upper and lower case and Gothic script, barometric air pressure from twenty eight to thirty one inches in hundredths of an inch, richly engraved dial center, steel indicator hand and brass recording hand, with a cast brass bezel and concave glass, hand setting knob, level bubble recessed within an oblong frame and silvered plate engraved “John Vincent” “Weymouth”. John Vincent are recorded as a family firm of Jewellers, watchmakers and silversmiths trading from 74 and later 86 St Mary Street, Weymouth, from 1801-1914.
