Fine & Affordable Art

06/05/2022

Over 120 fine and affordable artworks go up for auction on 6th May. Its a great sale from beginning to end - the first lot a particularly interesting piece: William Etty painted by his brother a few years before his death (lot 6500). The catalogue features some excellent collections of artists including local George Fall scenes, Yorkshire artist Jack Hellewell (including a portrait of his sister) and six aquatints by Thomas and William Daniell from the Oriental Scenery Antiquities of India series. Other highlights include a varied collection of 19th century oils including John Frederick Herring, Michaelangelo Meucci and two wonderful standouts - a large 18th century Dutch oil (lot 6621) and a large 19th century oil of Jimmy Gowland of the Sinnington Hunt (lot 6620). The collection of watercolours is equally exciting, with works by David Roberts, William McTaggart, Thomas Shotter Boys, William Heaton Cooper, Everett Mellor and Robert Fuller. Finally, there is an interesting and rare collection of maps in the sale.
