  • An eight-day mahogany veneered longcase clock retailed by a member of the 19th century Hougton family of Ormskirk clockmakers, hood with a swans neck pediment and  a Verre Eglomise panel beneath, square hood door flanked by two plain pillars with brass capitals, trunk with reeded cluster columns to the corners, half-length trunk door with a twin spire wavy top, plinth with canted corners and applied moulding to the front and base, square 14” painted dial with broad Roman numerals, minute markers and matching stamped hands, identically painted spandrels to the corners, subsidiary seconds and date dials with matching brass hands, dial inscribed “Houghton Ormskirk” pinned via a Wilson falseplate to a weight driven rack striking movement, striking the hours on a cast bell. With pendulum and flat weights.
