Collection of items from Captain, later Colonel J R Wilson, 5th (Scarborough) Battalion, Green Howards including WWII Victory medal, War medal, Burma Star and 1939-1945 Star, 'Forgotten Frontier' by Geoffrey Tyson, photocopies of his service records, photographs, correspondence etc. In the Summer 1942 he took part in an operation to rescue a group of British people fleeing from the Japanese invasion of Burma. They were trapped on an island by flood water and were rescued by a force of 60 men with elephants
